Who We Are

Conserve North County (CNC) is a Political Action Committee organized by environmental and social justice activists to support progressive candidates and initiatives throughout North San Diego County.

The current majority of the Encinitas City Council is on a MAGA-inspired path that does not reflect the majority of Encinitas voters. For the 2026 General Election, CNC will focus on three local races.

First, we are supporting longtime Encinitas resident and current Area 1 Trustee of the San Dieguito Union High School District Board, Rimga Viskanta, for Encinitas Mayor .

Second, in the race for Encinitas City Council District 3, CNC endorses Arielle Golden, a passionate community organizer from Cardiff-by-the-Sea with significant local and regional experience addressing complex problems surrounding food systems and the role of charitable programs addressing hunger.

In District 4, the clear and best choice to replace the appointed Republican incumbent is Brad Lefkowits, a father, small business owner (landscape design), Urban Forest Advisory Committee Chair, and one of the leaders of highly effective grassroots organization, Parents of EUSD (Encinitas Union School District).

These candidates for elected office, and those CNC will support in the future, generally stand up for policies Encinitas voters care most about: furthering a clean and healthy environment, managing growth while providing required affordable housing for all, easy access to transportation alternatives (walk, bike, transit), Climate Change mitigation mitigation and adaptation strategies, and anti-racism.

It’s time to bring the City Council majority back to the values that make the Encinitas Community the place we love to call home!
